Father Marrow's church is in the news, seemingly the target of a "kidnapping situation". Carl and James go there, where they meet Prince Vidal, Alexander, Savoy, and a fourth kindred named Natasha Preston. Prince Vidal charges the PCs with investigating what is going on in the church, together with Alexander and Edward, another neonate embraced in the same circumstances as Carl and James.
They sneak into the church, where they find Father Marrow in torpor, and Andrea Ouellette, Edward's sire, taken by a frenzy. This rage seems to be contagious, as Alexander is also taken by it, and starts ripping Carl apart with his claws.
James' mental powers snap Alexander out of his rage, and prompt him feed some of his blood to Father Marrow. All together, they manage to subdue Andrea, and deliver her to Prince Vidal for interrogation. They discover that Andrea was performing the ritual to enhance her vampiric powers, but something went wrong. They also get a bit more information about the other Kindred who Embraced that a few nights before. Andrea also reveals that the whole "experiment" was devised by a kindred known as Sarah Cobbler.

Carl and James hunt for Nathaniel Dubois, James' sire. In order to find him, they contact Miss Opal, a primogen (advisor) to Prince Vidal. She gives them the last known address of Nathan, but it seems the place in uninhabited. They do find the receipt of a liquor store. They investigate the store, and they discover that Nathaniel still uses the place to order liquor, probably for his victims.
James and Carl discover his new address, and go to pay him a visit. Nathaniel confesses that he was paid by Sarah Cobbler to Embrace James, and proposes an alliance to the two neonates. Feigning compliance, James and Carl bring him to Prince Vidal: one more rogue kindred has been captured.
