In life, Nathaniel Dubois was a capitalist of the first order. He turned his incisive mind and clever tongue to making himself and his employers (whomever they happened to be; he never kept a job for too long) as great a profit as possible.
He was known as something between a con man and a negotiator, and fell into the habit of getting his business partners very drunk (and therefore suggestible) before making important decisions.
